My Weight Loss Journey

banner.gif

Hey Hey! My DSL at home is being replaced by cable so I'm redirecting people to this site for the time being. Look for my regular site to be back up and running by October 10.

In the meantime, things are going great! I've maintained my weight loss since December of 2002 and hover around 115 pounds. This summer (2004) I completed two major goals: I completed two triathlons and a half marathon. Me! Former couch potato! Man it felt GREAT! My next goal is to complete a full marathon in April of 2005, to complete an Olympic length triathlon next summer, and to stay healthy, happy, and balanced.

You know, I never thought I'd do a site like this...but as I look for sources of motivation I find personal weight loss stories to be valuable to me. I hope mine is of value to someone else. If nothing else, it helps me to quantify my experience in a very visual way.

I started on February 2, 2002 doing Weight Watchers online. I have been faithful to the program ever since, taking only two days "off", my birthday and my 17th anniversary.

In addition to watching what I eat I also work out at least six days a week. I work out at Curves for Women and with Dance Dance Revolution. I started running in May and run three days a week at the YMCA (now that cold weather and rain has set in). I never was a workout kinda girl, but for some reason I really enjoy it!

My most recent photos are on the photo update page. Please drop me a line if you'd like!

Roy's lost about 80 I've lost 109 and am well below goal!

Here we are at Disneyland in July 2003! I am actually below goal after a few surgeries, but I'm feeling really good. (The surgeries were not weight loss surgeries. They were to remove a tumor in my pancreas and I'm completely all better now, but they did leave me a little underweight... ironic, isn't it?) Compare this picture to the one below! Oy!

Minnie and Maxie!
Actually, I like this picture even though I look fat in it. Well, I am fat in it. We love Disneyland and I'm always very happy there.

We go to Disneyland at least twice a year, even though we live in Washington State. We even get yearly passes. If we had our way, we'd spend two full weeks every year just "doing Disney."

Wriggle Into that Dress, Baby!
Roy and I at Disneyland in Summer of 2000.
Why didn't anyone tell me I looked so bad in this
dress? Good LORD! Can you say sausage casing?

Down 25
In early April we went to California to
visit my family. Here we are at a Mission
with Ryan. I was down 25 pounds by then,
but somehow no one noticed.
Everyone said I looked good, though.
That cute guy with me is my husband, Roy.

I had lost about 30 pounds by
this picture and suddenly I didn't
mind cameras any more.
